We're looking for a detail-oriented payments analyst to join our payment operations.
We’re a well-established and fast-growing FinTech startup based in the Isle of Man. Our technology powers card payment acceptance for thousands of customers across the UK, handling millions of payment transactions.
As a payments analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payment operations. You will work with other members of the payments team to manage the flow of funds, resolve anomalies, and handle various payment-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reconciliation, excellent problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of payment processing systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
You will be working as part of our small payment operations team. You will be expected to take personal responsibility for your daily tasks, working closely with your colleagues. This will include performing reconciliations, preparing payouts, managing refunds and chargebacks and performing transaction monitoring tasks.
Alongside your daily duties, you will be expected to proactively identify, plan and implement continuous improvements to our payment operations workflows. This will include developing internal best practice playbooks and implementing systematic improvements, including writing and updating internal procedures.
Your main duties will be in the following areas:
Funds Reconciliation
Perform daily reconciliation of funds received from acquirers
Identify and investigate any discrepancies in received funds
Maintain accurate records of all reconciliation activities
Submerchant Payouts
Prepare and process payouts for submerchants
Ensure timely and accurate distribution of funds
Monitor and verify payout calculations
Refunds and Chargebacks
Process refund requests in a timely manner
Manage chargeback cases, including gathering evidence and submitting responses
Analyse refund and chargeback trends to identify potential areas for improvement
Transaction Monitoring
Analyse transactions to identify fraudulent or high-risk patterns
Work with other team members to manage risk appropriately
Discrepancy Management
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to address issues
Develop and implement processes to minimise future discrepancies

Requirements
You must be a well-organised person who can confidently plan and execute a to-do list while juggling competing priorities, including managing a busy inbox.
You should also be able to demonstrate your commitment to developing your skills - a great attitude and growth mindset are important.

Essential
Experience in a similar role, such as payment processing, reconciliation, or a similar role within the financial services or FinTech industry.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Proficiency in Google Sheets (or Excel)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Can-do attitude, self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Strong computer literacy including spreadsheets, documents and email.
Desirable but not essential
Experience with financial reconciliation processes
Knowledge of payment systems and terminologies (e.g., acquirers, payment gateways, chargebacks)
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Certification in payments or fraud prevention (e.g., Certified Payments Professional / CPFPP)
Location, Remote Work and Relocating
You will be primarily based at our office in the Isle of Man (Euromanx House, Freeport). This is not a remote position and it is generally not possible to work from home.

Salary and Benefits
Compensation range from £23,000 - £32,000 depending on your experience level. Perks include:
